new computer is here
It arrived yesterday. The installation disc that I found is labeled "12.6 live", apparently downloaded back at the end of July.
Installation went well, and after fiddling with things a bit I fired up synaptic package manager and started working on what I wanted to add to it and a few things I wanted to remove, until I got too tired to continue. Switchiing inputs on this monitor is a PITA. I've a bit more stuff to do on this workstation, and then it continues.
It's going to be real nice to have more of a machine with significantly more resources...
