To be honest: i ran into this kind of issues multiple times right after
- and sometimes even during (!) - install of a debian system, using just
default settings, but allowing LVM to govern the whole thing. It took me
some time to realize, the defaults for partitioning were bogus and to
intervene by using some lvm related commands DURING the installation,
ensuring there would be enough space on root and home.
My interpretation: One doesnt need to be stupid to run into the "no
space left on device" error messages, as the installer (anaconda?) does
not seem to do a good job at that junkture.
But the error messages coming up were misleading, to say the least, just
as some suggestions - even from the gnome guys - may not have considered
the real source of this problem. (?)
GL with fixing it.
