There have already been many answers. And since it's highly unlikely any third party will include support for such a closed down system, you might want to look at them. At least I don't think Google will suddenly open source Nearby Share for everyone to write clients for it.

I'd like Quick Share support in Linux as it's built into Android and
available for Windows. Someone has an early version at
https://github.com/Martichou/rquickshare but I only got it working one
way, Linux PC to phone and even that needed disabling the firewall on
the PC. But maybe that'll improve.
