So don't use that.
The Debian package youtube-dl is NOT actually youtube-dl any more. It
is a transitional package that brings in yt-dlp instead.
hobbit:~$ dpkg -s youtube-dl | grep -e transitional -e Depends
Depends: yt-dlp
Description: download videos from YouTube and other sites (transitional package)
The yt-dlp package is version 2023.03.04-1. It's 13 months old.
