If you have no important data, a fresh installation will do the best. Do NOT install from a live-dvd, download the installer cd for your hardware from the debian site. There is a good installation manual available in different languages. It should be pretty easy, when you read the manual carefully. Additional, this is also a good learning effect. Good luck!
