Only one thing that you could look at and it's the power settings on your virtual machine (ACPI and related) and some possible default general settings on virtualbox (I don't use virtualbox but Qemu has such a thing). What you do on your host machine doesn't affect what goes on inside the virtual system (machine inside virtual box). In case this wasn't obvious.
