Do you have a typo in your Subject: line? According to 
snapshot.debian.org libc5 was last seen in Debian in 2009.

That will be sufficient to satisfy the dependency declared by the HP 
package, though it's unclear whether the package it depends on will 
satisfy the real dependency.
