shim is a package against which you can file bugs.

The time when this was discussed would match

but the error messages are different.
Nevertheless if you are bored enough you could test whether their Live
ISOs boot for you after their shim repair:
  http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/
If so, then this might be a clue for the Debian developers.
