I strongly disagree.
The best place to learn to run a web server is at home.
Preferably with a good, tested backup solution and no sensitive
data on the same machine.
The entire point of UNIX and UNIX-like systems is that at any
moment, a user may suddenly become a programmer or a sysadmin,
and this is fully supported behavior.
