OT: Footnotes in email (Re: Hardware requirements between Debian 9 and 10)

I'm curious how you do that, or more specifically, are you using an email
client that (semi-?) automates that for you?

Irrelevant aside question (for extra credit ;-): I did try looking at the
message headers (View Source in kmail) to see if your email client was shown
there, but the things I found that might have been relevant might be
contrsdictory -- I found (it's been a long time since I looked at email
headers):
