no Sir I did not. Thank You!
now with 'non-free' enabled both packages were found and are installed.

* Synaptic did warn me:
"The free nouveau kernel module is currently loaded and conflicts with 
the non-free nvidia kernel module.
The easiest way to fix this is to reboot the machine once the 
installation has finished."
that worked.

I suppose I should also install the nvidia-kernel-source package

I was using the debian-bullseye-DI-alpha2-amd64-netinst.iso
usually with Buster installs I use a non-free ISO and it just did not 
occur to me.
