Wine configuration > Graphics > Window settings has a checkbox for 
"Emulate virtual desktop". Unnecessary for most applications?  
Graphics window for the application runs within a Debian desktop, 
analogous to winecfg?

cd aDiretory ; wine ./SETUP.EXE 
gave an immediate crash with this backtrace.
