ich würde dafür zwei Quellen konsultieren: * Datenblätter der Grafikkarte bzw. von Mainboard+CPU. Bei hohen Auflösungen besonders auf die DisplayPort und HDMI Versionen achten. * xrandr auf der Konsole eingeben. Das zeigt, was der Treiber glaubt ausgeben zu können, bei mir bspw: $ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 4480 x 1440, maximum 32767 x 32767DP-0 connected primary 2560x1440+1920+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 597mm x 336mm

1920x1080 60.00*+ 59.94 50.00 1680x1050 59.95 [...] Das Problem bei der xrandr-Variante ist, dass es oft nur etwas anzeigt, wenn schon ein Monitor angeschlossen ist und dann wird (zumindest bei Flachbildschirmen) eigentlich als höchste Auflösung immer die native Auflösung des Monitors ausgegeben. Es kann mehr möglich sein, wenn man einen höher aufgelösten Monitor anschließt.Bzgl. der physischen Monitorgrößen (24", 27", ...) gibt es übrigens keine Einschränkungen: Ein 27" Full-HD Monitor ist aus Sicht des Rechners kein Unterschied zum 24" Monitor (außer im Hinblick auf die Pixeldichte, aber das ist erst bei sehr hohen Auflösungen auf kleinen Monitoren kritisch und verhindert nicht die Bildausgabe an sich).

To find out about their capabilities, it is best to consult the respective datasheets (check the HDMI and DP versions for high resolutions). Alternatively, `xrandr` can give some basic insights about the resolution although it only displays the resolutions possible in the current setup by default (i.e. it is not well-suited to find out if a monitor of higher resolution could be attached problemlessly).
Finally, physical screen size is mostly irrelevant for hardware compatibility unless small screen sizes and high resolutions come together (like UHD on 21" or such).
