Just a further thought, along similar line:

I vaguely have the impression (from posts you've made in the past) that you do 
things to make the LAN fast (for your CNC stuff) like use static IPs, and 
probably use those IPs rather than any names that have to be resolved, so I 
doubt that is a problem -- I guess I just mentioned it for posterity.
