Debian Stretch - software-properties-gtk - updates tab - when there are other updates is grayed out

Hi,

I've been trying to find an answer to the below:

Desktop    :    Gnome 3

Package    :    software-properties-gtk

Issue          :    Click on the updates tab, the dropdown for 'when 
there are other updates' is grayed out.

I've tried asking on #debian on Freenode a number of times and nobody 
seems to know why, any suggestions would be appreciated. The official 
screenshots page shows it as I have explained above, though I have 
Recommended updates (stretch-updates) selected :
