As an aside, it is actually an error to describe this as a "loopback" device,
because that is incorrect.
It is a "loop" device [1].
The word "loopback" does not appear in 'man mount'.
A *loop* device is a filesystem technique to make a file accessible as
a block device.
A *loopback* device is a virtual network interface.
