Indeed. It seems that gnutls_rnd is called when creating a VteFileStream. I added a gdb backtrace to the bug report.
Have you tried with a different terminal? There seem to be several in XFCE4.
My fallback terminal is good old xterm. With tiny fonts, xterm is especially useful for those occasions when I just have to have 16 terminals on the screen at once.
