It worked for me, and that's with a messed up middle button.

Libreoffice Writer Version: 5.2.7.2/Build ID: 1:5.2.7-1 (on developer
controlled hold for ages)
Vim 2:8.0.0197-5+b1 (via apt-get showpkg)
