No sound after reboot on Debian Testing: a cautionary tale

So I rebooted today and no sound card is set up. It was working as recently
as a couple of hours before. I had just done a full-upgrade.

Some results:

(I was using the AMD audio.)

aplay -l
aplay: device_list:270: no soundcards found...

I happen to be a fairly experienced Debian guy, so I tried 

	modprobe snd_hda_intel

Lo and behold, sound was back.

So why did this particular reboot result in that module not auto-loading?
Should I submit a bug?
