It's called foresight and social behaviour. Putting (sometimes) the
good of a perceived whole before one's instant gratification. Perhaps
that's the reason there's so much free software out there, dunno.
I get that this concept is totally alien to some. I also get that
this perception of what "good" and "whole" is can go wrong. Sometimes
horribly so. Some of us try, nevertheless.
