Be careful what you wish for:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/52.0/releasenotes/
...
Removed support for Netscape Plugin API (NPAPI) plugins other than Flash.
Silverlight, Java, Acrobat and the like are no longer supported...
On Linux, Firefox now requires PulseAudio to play sound and no longer plays
sound directly with ALSA...

...
Non-flash plugins re-enabled (disabled in the regular 52.0 release)...

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/46.0/releasenotes/
...
GTK3 integration (GNU/Linux only)... (problematic for many QT and other
non-gnome users, e.g. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1269274 but
building with gtk2 remains an option)
