There's no compulsion to have a separate partition for /tmp. Simply remove 
that small partition from /etc/fstab.
      Just did it, and rebooted.  And I set Beeth's Fifth to playing on
      youtube for five minutes -- of course there was no sound<sob> -- and
      I had no problems.
