mc has been around for north of 30 years I believe, actually dateing back to dos-2.0 days or before.
MC is a 22 year old clone of Norton Commander for DOS (which at the time of NC birth was v3.2, prior to existence of extended HD partitions and 1.44MB floppy support). NC was born 30 years ago. Having been first a NC user, then a FC/2 user on OS/2, MC was an enabler when I began with Linux.
