You can install an additional DE without reinstalling. There are DEs that are
neither XFCE nor Gnome. E.g. I use Trinity DE. *Very* configurable, and, as
I have it set up, very clear. I need it to be. It's why I use it. I can't
cope with fuzzy/wavy/translucent/transparent/wobbly so I have it set up
without any of that.
