How hard is it to help Devs fix transition dependency glitches?

Hi... I've been trying to "word" this email ever since I ran into all
those problems myself last week. Now reading about Joe and his Gimp, I
feel his pain. Gimp folks have been my personal heroes almost daily
for at least 10 years, probably pushing closer to 15. So I'm here to
ask...

Does anyone have any feedback on what kind of knowledge it would take
to help Developers with something like resolving the dependency
glitches occurring in transitions** the last couple weeks?

Is it a "leg work", "go-fer" kind of deal to help fix them, or does
one have to have a decent skill set going to comprehend the what and
how to fix re the dependencies causing people pain right now?

** PS Did I even word that properly, to boot? These last few weeks are
the first time I'd ever heard of the creature deemed "transitions".
Surely that's only because this is the first unstable I've been
through from the start of a new release cycle.

Cindy :)
