So far, much of the documentation has been just a little off and the differences have both confused and crippled the process. The bottom line is that I never got the straight forward installation of redmine to work and have decided to lay down a step by step ruby, rails, passenger system before attempting to install redmine again. This may be the hard way but the easy way never worked. Believe me, I tried.

Which brings me back to my original question. What is meant by the term "application".
