Hmmmm…
I tried again. This time I did *not* upgrade u-boot. I used ‘U-Boot 2011.12 (Mar 11 2012 - 18:59:46)’ which I had already installed sometime earlier. Everything worked flawlessly this time!
I tweaked the u-boot environment post-install setup in two ways:
1) I changed $(bootargs_console) to ${bootargs_console}.
2) I added ‘mmc init;’ to the beginning of bootcmd_mmc.
I have no idea what went wrong the first time I tried…
