The telinit s command, whilst taking the computer to single user mode,
unfortunately did not turn off the GUI, so I still got the same error.
It is unfortunate that nVidia does not simply provide a .deb package,
that would allow me to install the package using a package manager,
then reboot the computer, to get the graphics adaptor working.
It has all become quite difficult, to simply get a computer to work.
Maybe, after another year or two,I will be able to get the computer to work....
