My boot menu has the following entries (plus recovery mode), I always default to entry 0. What are the others and how do I delete unwanted ones?

'Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64'
'Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 3.2.0-0.bpo.4-rt-amd64'
'Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64'
'Debian GNU/Linux, with Xen 4.1-amd64 and Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64'
'Debian GNU/Linux, with Xen 4.1-amd64 and Linux 3.2.0-0.bpo.4-rt-amd64'
'Debian GNU/Linux, with Xen 4.1-amd64 and Linux 3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64'

remove the corresponding kernel package and the menu items will be removed

for example:
$ apt-get purge linux-image-3.2.0-0-bpo.4-amd64

success,
