Before embarking on a major project, it is generally advisable to 
understand:
- are there less difficult alternatives?
- is there enough demand?
- is there enough support to get it done?
- is it necessary (in this case, what are the changes of the pending GR 
mitigating the problem, or of otherwise avoiding the necessity of a 
major amount of effort)?

So, in other words, bugger off.
