I also encountered a problem later in the install at the "Configure the
package manager" stage with a "Bad archive mirror" message (the mirrors
can't *all* be bad, perhaps the installer is). I haven't had time to
look at that yet, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't the cause of the
packages not found which leads to GRUB (or Lilo) failing to install.
