udev madness ?
I plug a sd card in the USB reader; the system does recognize it, since I get the following in dmesg:
# dmesg -c | tail -n25
[452776.255955] sd 8:0:0:0: [sde] 3842048 512-byte logical blocks: (1.96 GB/1.83 GiB)
[452776.261515] sd 8:0:0:0: [sde] No Caching mode page found
[452776.261522] sd 8:0:0:0: [sde] Assuming drive cache: write through
[452776.267555] sd 8:0:0:0: [sde] No Caching mode page found
[452776.267561] sd 8:0:0:0: [sde] Assuming drive cache: write through
[452776.269260] sde: sde1
ls confirms it is recognized:
# ls -l /dev/sde*
brw-rw---T 1 root floppy 8, 64 Dec 27 17:01 /dev/sde
brw-rw---T 1 root floppy 8, 65 Dec 27 17:01 /dev/sde1
Why does it fail to auto-mount, and does not appear in Thunar or Pcmanfm ?
udev gone mad ?
Cheers,
Ron.
PS The card is perfectly readable and writeable in my phone, or in SWMBO's windows Vista box.

The ability to speak several languages is an admirable asset,
but to be able to hold your tongue in one language is absolutely priceless.
