Somebody else already pointed out that there is a typo, however, keys
should be available by key servers and you don't need to get them by a
package. Usually you should be able to get keys from a key server too.


Did you try to run

gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-key 68980A0EA10B4DE8

to get the needed key

_from a key server_?


There is no indication that he is having any problem with the key package.

I'm frustrated by the OP's omitting of pertinent information, such as the probable errors he was getting during the apt-get update, so I wouldn't want to confuse the issue even more by deviating from the mate-desktop instructions.
