Not sure what you mean.."free" as in you don't pay for it, or "free" as
in open source? Nvidia certainly has free, as in you don't pay for it,
drivers, and if you want to get the full performance of your
Nvidia-based card, you will use it. Linux has free, as in you can
modify it yourself if you're a programmer, but it does not have the
performance, at least, not yet.
