Secure way of voice communication between two PCs

Hi,

I have been using Skype for a while and wanting to find an open source alternative.
Skype uses encryption which most of the open source counterparts lack.
Also, with skype it's not a direct connection between the two PCs, I think they use nodes/super nodes or something similar in the middle.

I know Ekiga can be used to call directly with h323 protocol but it lacks native encryption, to make it secure I will have to either use ZRTP or have VPN set up.

Is there a simpler alternative that allows for direct IP to IP voice communication and is secure?
