Are you on Squeeze or Wheezy? For Squeeze, install the ia32-libs* and
then dpkg --force-architecture the Adobe Reader .deb, for Wheezy,
follow the same instructions as for Skype, i.e.

# dpkg --add-architecture i386
# apt-get update
# dpkg -i adobereaderfile.deb
# apt-get install -f
# # or, if that only wants to remove Adobe Reader
# apt-get install <dependency of Adobe Reader>:i386
