Yea, what he said.  When I'm squirreling away stuff, I prefer to end up
with files that have (for example) 201302, 201303 (Feb, Mar) since
they'll sort automatically when doing a ls command.  So if you want to
be able to see your files nicely sorted in order, Tom's got the right idea.
