Hum, I just did a wrong manipulation, so, it is possible that an unfinished mail precedes this one.

I was simply saying that I do not know very well the linux graphical layers, but, AFAIK, it is possible to simplify it like that:
_ linux kernel and it's drivers
_ graphical server (probably Xorg but could be wayland)
_ the window manager you are using
_ your desktop environment if present (might be KDE, Gnome, XFCE, LXDE or many others) which sometimes provides the window decorator

It sounds like your problem is located between the window manager and the desktop environment. I do not think it will help a lot, but it could give you areas to search, I am not really able to think more for now, sorry :)
