Re: Why the 64 bit ISA is better
Exactly a week ago I received a new to me Thinkpad T410 with a Core i5
processor, etc. It didn't take long to learn the laptop was running
much cooler with the 64 bit kernel even on a 32 bit userland. However,
VirtualBox refused to run in that arrangement. So I installed the
Wheezy amd64 and bumped it to Sid right away. A week later and this
system just flies! So far I've not even enabled multi-arch as
everything, except Google Earth which wanted the i386 compatibility lib
and whatnot else. So I've left it uninstalled.
I am sold on this 64 bit stuff! This laptop is so quiet it reminds my
of my original Coco 2. Ha!
