I just can't hear it. Ok, let 'speaker-text -c2' run in a terminal and try adjusting the 'Front' control. Make sure your speakers or headphones or whatever are connected and any volume control turned at least half way up. If this is a laptop make sure to also play with any dedicated volume control on it. These are sometimes not connected to the alsa volume controls.
