Before I never realized this. and I did do a rough try.
Perhaps I should have said: anything else designed to view EPS files
(in particular) if the goal was to view these figures. I'm thinking
of gv and evince.
I tried acroread and evince before also.
If you tried Inkscape, was there any problem? Note: for
Debian/unstable (and perhaps testing too) users, there's currently a
bug (with potential security implications) in Inkscape when it tries
to open EPS files.
When open Inkscape from applicate menu, and open file open the eps has
no problem.
but from command line, it showed:

Please forget the error message, ( I can still open by menu, and
Inkscape is plan B in view eps now for me)
Concerning ghostscript, it isn't for the end user (though it may be
useful if everything else fails).
