 if your sources.list entry for squeeze/updates is like the above that 
MAY be your problem.

Mine looks like  http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main 
contrib non-free                       note the lack of /   ^

And it works here.  the mysql-common version is 5.1.66.0+squeeze1
