Can it boot if /boot is on the LVM over RAID1?

Or when /boot is on a nonRAID nonLVM partition but / is on an LVM over
RAID?

Yes to all three.

Forgot.

For Squeeze, not partitioned raid.

And a partitioned RAID is

(a) a RAID drive that has partitions on it? or

(b) a RAID that combines paririnos instead of complete disk drives as its
physical media?

B.

You can set up RAID on a set of physical disks, or as a set of partitions. The former will boot easily with Squeeze, the latter is problematic. It can be done, but not from the initial install. You need a recent GRUB. And an up-to-date machine configuration, which should be no problem (refer to Shane Johnson's posts).
