Except in some very specific situations.
Exemple : you want the box act as a bridge with some protocols (e.g.
IPv6) and as a router with other protocols (e.g. IPv4, ARP). You do this
by adding rules in ebtables' BROUTING chain. Then the physical
interfaces have IPv4 addresses, and the bridge only has IPv6 addresses.
