Hi Lina,

the best way is to install the package "linux-image-XXX-XXX", where XXX-XXX 
depends on your used kernel. 

This package makes sure, that the kernel for your debian version is always in 
the latest version.

In my case this is 
Kernel: linux-image-3.1.0-1-686-pae
Package to make sure, the latest version: linux-image-686-pae
