Well, I meant if both LibreOffice Writer applications (the one from
Squeeze and the one from Wheezy) show the same behaviour. That is, open
LO from Squeeze and write a bunch of text and then open LO from wheezy
and write the same (keeping font face and size also the same, of course)
and then compare them.

Can you see any difference or the texts look the same?

What I am trying to determine with this test is if the font problem is
system wide or just affects to the console.

Mmm, lowriter text renders different (less wider) than text on xnotes and
terminal while paragraphs on xnotes and terminal look like the same.

Anyway, can you try to set the font at 10 pt or higher value? I also see
a slightly differece when font is set at 8 pt. Maybe the problem is
reproducible only at small sizes :-?

Hum... yes, the issue seems to be very similar.

In fact there are two open bugs (merged):

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=636776
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=636844

But it seems the change which leads in having wider fonts was done on
purpose so is still unclear what it has to be done with that commit.

If I were you, I would add my self to that bug (636844) and explain your
situation. The more people complains about the change, the better to get
it fixed/reverted.

Greetings,
