It (Netlink BCM57785) "should" be supported as is [*1]:-
/lib/modules/2.6.32-5-686/kernel/drivers/net/tg3.ko
(which I believe is the driver Andrew is referring to)
However ASUS does have some strange ACPI implementations, and there's a
possibility they've got a modified chipset....
You can try forcibly loading the module:-
# modprobe -v tg3
you may need to explicitly state the path (and extension)
Check syslog and dmesg for errors (espec dmesg ACPI warnings)
Alternatively you could build the Broadcom driver and try that:-

The lspci info might be instructive...
