I using KDE.
I am not sure which one is doing.
How to find out?

Depends on who is doing the indexing.

If it is a cron job, you can disable the cron job.

OTOH, if the evil thing is done by  KDE or GNOME, things are a lot more
simpler, which of these do you use?
