One option: Reconfigure locales to set your default locale to da_DK.

  $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales

The second question is "Default locale for the system environment:"
and then select your desired locale from the list.

You will need to restart as much as needed in order to have this take
effect. Usually this means one of gdm/gdm3/kdm/xdm/other.

Another option: Set up ~/.xsession to load your default login
environment and then have your .bashrc (or other) set your default
locale as you desire. Then log into gdm (or other) using the
*default* session (default is ~/.xsession) and it will have the
desired locale set. The use of ~/.xsession has been discussed many
times on this list and the discussion will be in the archives.
