M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 Realtek ALC892 - No sound(mostly)

This motherboard used to work under a previous install of Debian, I
Updated to Squeeze through a fresh install (hard drive replacement).
Ever since I have been unable to get the sound to work.

With the speakers plugged in to the speaker port I get random pops
coming from the speakers, Clicking on mute and un-mute reproduces
these pops. I am able to control the mic inputs so that i can turn up
and down the mic volume on t\both the front and rear inputs and hear
the resulting noises.

This version of the chipset has a 6 connector audio + spdif + HDMI on
the rear + 2 ports on the front.

Unsure what to provide at the moment, so here are some of the common
outputs to hopefully help.

<erno> hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to
ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my
apartment it is.
